Novo Education Space is operated by WEA Illawarra, a not-for-profit Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and registered charity.Many students at Novo Education Space have experienced trauma as a result of adverse childhood experiences. Our students often have significant gaps in learning and find it difficult to engage in large group settings, and sometimes present with social-emotional challenges in the school environment. Our students require additional planning, support, and adjustments to access their learning.We utilise the Berry Street model of trauma-sensitive positive education which encompasses a structured vision of wellbeing in the school community. Our relationship practice is grounded in high expectations balanced with support and unconditional positive regard for our students.The RoleThere are multiple Mentor Teacher positions available at our exciting and newly designed Shoalhaven campus. The positions are permanent, full-time located on the beautiful South Coast of NSW.Our teachers maximise engagement in the classroom through evidence-based teaching strategies and facilitating cross-curricular learning experiences. We utilise the Berry Street Education Model and restorative practices, not just with our learners, but with our colleagues as well.About YouIdeally, you are an experienced teacher who engages in critical reflection and inquiry in order to improve their own knowledge and skills to effectively engage students and assist them to grow in their learning and achieve their personal goals. You can work with a range of students and classes and take accountability for the effective delivery of your teaching and learning program.
