Quality Teaching, Assurance and Accreditation Officer This role provides administrative oversight and professional judgement in relation to the Accreditation of Initial Teacher Education programs, reporting and data analysis from an audit, quality, and risk perspective. It ensures compliance with the Professional Development Framework for applications for renewal of registration and currency and applications made by Employers for the Authorisations of persons to assume specific teaching duties and functions in schools. This role interacts closely with other functions of the office and will be required to sit on national working groups attached to its key work.
Context statement
The Office of the Board supports the Teacher Registration Board, a statutory authority reporting to the Minister for Education. The Board is charged with maintaining teacher registration and teacher standards in the Northern Territory. This includes the management of professional conduct matters, accreditation of initial teacher education courses, support for teachers at all career stages and the certification of Highly Accomplished and Lead teachers.
Key Duties and Responsibilities Contribute to the development of processes, policies and reporting with regards eligibility for registration, certification of HALTS and the accreditation of initial teacher education courses. Provide high quality reports to external agencies and authorities for the moderation and benchmarking of the certification of Highly Accomplished and Lead Teachers, Initial Teacher Education course and graduate oversight committees, Boards and working groups. Update all Accreditation materials to reflect current policy and legislative contexts, inclusive of any national standards and procedures. Act as the Executive Officer for Accreditation panel activities and key point of contact to Higher Education and other Providers in relation to accreditation activities. Provide high quality needs based professional learning programs and information sessions for stakeholders in relation to core duties. Provide representation on national committees and working groups as delegated by the Director and relevant to quality teacher functions. Selection Criteria Essential Working with Children Clearance Notice (Ochre Card) and National Police Clearance. Demonstrated high level knowledge and expertise of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers for registration, accreditation, and certification processes. Experience in a field related to quality assurance and/or risk management, audit, accreditation, and information management. Demonstrated high level oral, written and communication skills including an ability to work effectively in a team, engage high profile stakeholders both locally and nationally and interact effectively with people from diverse cultures. Demonstrated ability to provide high-level advice and professional learning regarding registration, national certification processes and accreditation to educational professionals, stakeholders, employment sectors in the Northern Territory and the public across a complex multicultural interface. High level organisational skills with the ability to maintain confidentiality, take direction, and manage competing deadlines. Desirable Registration with the Teacher Registration Board of the Northern Territory and or the ability to obtain. Current or previously held certified teacher at the Highly Accomplished or Lead Teacher level. Tertiary and/or post-graduate qualifications in a relevant discipline, including early childhood.
