Position Information
Cardiff High School is a comprehensive, co-educational secondary school located in the city of Lake Macquarie on the land of the Awabakal People. The school draws its enrolments from the Cardiff, Garden Suburb, Hillsborough, and Macquarie Hills communities. The school has a culture of academic achievement, success in sports, and creative and performing arts.
Cardiff High School has a current enrolment of 750 students, including 110 Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students and 53 support class students (MC, ED, IO, IM). The school FOEI is 112. The school curriculum caters to a wide variety of interests and needs, with a growing number of students accessing tertiary study and local-industry post-school pathways.
Cardiff High School has a strong relationship with the Kirinari Hostel, with many residents currently and historically attending Cardiff High School.
Cardiff High School has strong collaborative links with our P&C, Local AECG, and the Cardiff Community of Schools: Hillsborough, Garden Suburb, Cardiff, Cardiff North and Cardiff South Public Schools.
Selection Criteria
Approval to teach Visual Arts, Visual Design and Photography and Digital Media and willingness to teach Drama and Music.
Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver effective, engaging and differentiated teaching and learning programs for a diverse range of students, incorporating technology in the classroom.
Ability to collaborate with colleagues to implement faculty initiatives and whole school extra-curricular activities to promote a positive, diverse school culture while improving student outcomes.
Demonstrated commitment to improving educational outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in a positive and culturally inclusive environment.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
