Teacher - Students with Disabilities (Multiple Impairment) - Western Cape College - Weipa Campus An exciting opportunity exists for a vibrant, energetic and fun-loving Students with Disabilities (Multiple Impairment) teacher to join the teaching team at the Western Cape College's Weipa campus in 2024. You'll be resourceful, resilient and ready to embrace challenges and triumphs teaching in a remote school brings.
The ideal person will be experienced in:
- working collaboratively with staff to support students across the broader definition of disability, including students with complex needs
- developing the capacity of both teachers and teacher aides
- planning, preparing and delivering effective and inclusive teaching and learning experiences, including the use of learning technologies and assessment
- co-managing, with the classroom teacher, students requiring substantial, extensive and extensive plus adjustments e.g., ICPs, AAC, Individual Behaviour Support Plans and Individual Learning Plans.

Located 800km from Cairns by road, and only 200km from the northern tip of the Cape, Weipa is the ideal base for exploring all the region has to offer. Road access to Weipa and beyond is via the Peninsula Developmental Road which is unsealed, and during the wet season may be closed for extended periods.
Considering its remote location, the township of Weipa has access to a great range of essential services and lifestyle facilities including sports and recreation, community space, health services, shopping and retail, commercial services and trade.
