Salary: Teacher, $82,317 - $119,246 per annum (pro-rata) (SEA GA 2021)
This is a twelve (12) month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 4, 2024 Southern River College is an Independent Public School seeking to appoint a dedicated, highly competent and enthusiastic teacher with excellent interpersonal skills to support students within our Specialised Autism Learning Program (SALP). The SALP at Southern River College is an inclusive and integrated program that intensively supports 18 students to achieve success within a mainstream school environment.
The SALP teacher will ideally deliver highly engaging and contextually relevant teaching programs designed to support the social-emotional learning of the students within the SALP. Successful teachers within this program will ideally be skilled to develop individual learning programs and provide support to teachers across the College to assist SALP students to engage successfully within their timetabled classes. The role may require the successful applicant to be versatile in teaching in Mainstream and/or our Teaching and Learning Centre. This will be discussed and negotiated by each individual applicant's strengths and teaching experience.
The successful applicant will ideally have an understanding of the use of evidence-based practices that support students with disability to engage successfully within an integrated and inclusive College environment. You should be a student-focused practitioner who is committed to working in partnership with the student, parent/guardian to deliver positive outcomes for each student.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work-related requirements in relation to teaching students with Autism Spectrum Disorder without a diagnosed intellectual disability:
Apply evidence-based pedagogy for improving student outcomes relevant to the WA curriculum Knowledge and/or a commitment to participate in relevant training in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), positive behaviour support and a range of evidenced-based teaching practices to improve student outcomes Monitor, review and report on the performance of students by creating individualised learning plans, maintaining relevant, rigorous and valid programming, data collection and reporting systems Efficiently deploy resources and manage a team of education assistants to ensure program fidelity Demonstrate high level interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with colleagues, parents, students and the school community Professional Benefits Working for the Department of Education you will enjoy a range of benefits including competitive salaries, flexible working arrangements, training and career development opportunities and attractive leave provisions.
