Position InformationThe Itinerant Support Teacher-Hearing (ISTH) will deliver high quality advice, education and support to schools, students and families to build capacity and support adjustments made for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. The position is based at The Crescent School SSP which has an enrolment of 87 students including 15 Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students. The successful candidate will be required to provide support to schools in the Goulburn and/or Yass networks. The ISTH will be responsible for delivering a teaching caseload which may include supporting students from diagnosis to Year 12. This position requires the ISTH to travel between schools and, therefore, the ISTH must have a fully registered and comprehensively insured vehicle at their disposal, along with a valid driver's licence.Selection CriteriaApproval to teach Special Education - Hearing (Primary) Special Education Hearing (Secondary), with demonstrated experience in developing and delivering educational programs that address the needs of students who are Deaf and/or Hard of Hearing.Expertise in or willingness to train in AUSLAN and capacity to use assistive communication systems in supporting equal access to the curriculum for Deaf and/or Hard of Hearing students.Highly developed communication, organisation and interpersonal skills to work with families, build professional relationships across multiple settings, and effectively work within a team.Knowledge and commitment to the department's Aboriginal Education Policies.ConditionsAn unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement.
