The school is set within attractive grounds with beautiful heritage buildings, close to the centre of town on Bourke Street. The student population is 172, with 25% of the students identifying as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. There are currently 7 mainstream classes and 3 support classes. Selection Criteria
Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with autism, intellectual disabilities, behaviour difficulties, and Emotional Disturbance, with a knowledge of trauma informed practice. Demonstrated high-level interpersonal skills and the capacity to effectively communicate across all stakeholders within the school context, including students, parent/carers, external agencies, and the wider community, to build and enhance a culture of inclusivity. Demonstrated commitment to student wellbeing with the ability to plan and effectively implement research-based individual learning, behaviour, and risk assessment plans with all stakeholders to support the behavioural, social, sensory, and wellbeing needs of students. Understanding and sensitivity to the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and students from low socio-economic status communities, with the capacity to ensure quality outcomes for all.
ConditionsAn unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
