Newington College is seeking a passionate and experienced Teacher Librarian to join our Library Team on permanent full-time basis. The Teacher Librarian is a permanent full-time position with a commencement date as soon as possible. A teaching requirement within the Library will be expected of the successful candidate.

A Teacher Librarian at Newington supports and implements the vision of the College by building and facilitating effective information services and programs which contribute to the development of lifelong learners and critical thinkers. They combine curriculum knowledge and pedagogy with library and information management knowledge and skills to achieve this. A Teacher Librarian at Newington has an important role as a contributor to curriculum implementation, an information specialist, and an information manager.

The Newington Library is a well-managed, flexible, and welcoming space, where the Library team, teachers, students, and the broader Newington community can collaborate, pursue a shared love of learning, and be immersed in quality literature. The Library is the heart of the school- and contributes to a culture that is vibrant, caring, curious and courageous.

About You 

We have deliberately not provided set and narrow selection criteria. However, it would be expected that the successful candidate will:
ideally hold ALIA accredited academic qualifications in teacher librarianship, for example, a Master of Education (Teacher Librarianship)be registered to teach in NSW and hold a valid WWCChave thorough knowledge of contemporary approaches to teaching and learninghave comprehensive knowledge of the NSW curriculademonstrate experiences in coordinating events and projectsunderstand the changing role and enduring value of librariesdemonstrate organisational and time management skillscommunicate clearly, personably, and effectively in a variety of settingsunderstand and adhere to the College's Child Safeguarding policies and practicescontribute to the continuous improvement of Child Safeguarding at Newington.About Newington College
