We explore individual goals related to pathways back into school, employment or further accredited training, whilst assisting the development of Language, Literacy and numeracy skills and building confidence.The successful applicant will work with Indie College students one-on-one or in small groups to deliver the VCE Vocational Major/Victorian Pathways Certificate.
This is a non-traditional teaching role with a strong focus on re-engaging students who have not experienced success in traditional learning settings.In 2024 our first year out salary for a 4 or 5 year trained teacher is $95,593 and $99,103 base plus superannuation respectively and this increases with experience to the top of the scale at $123,690.

Please note that this is not a contract role but a permanent position.Core Workplace ObjectivesPreparation and delivery of programs in line with appropriate curriculum.Enhancing effectiveness in the classroom through improved teacher knowledge, practice and professional engagement in order to achieve improved standards of teaching and learning.Ensuring the most effective use of time and resources in the delivery of classes aligned to student's individual learning and pathways plans.Promoting the school's alternative educational and strengths based model to ensure student goals and personal outcomes are achieved with the focus on "Changing the Lives of Young People."Flexibility to travel between locations.Work closely with College staff.Workplace Tasking & Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching duties are aligned to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
Key duties of the teacher may include but are not limited to:Writing curriculum that provides adjustments for students (this requires an understanding of Victorian curricula; understanding of the Victorian Curriculum F-10 will be highly regarded).Planning, writing and delivering structured lessons that differentiate and personalise the learning for each student.Embedding best practice pedagogy into lesson plans to engage students.Working collaboratively in a small team to implement feedback.Embracing opportunities to participate in coaching and mentoring programs.Supporting students with a range of learning needs, including disabilities, behavioural disturbances, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADD/ADHD, low levels of literacy/numeracy, and mental illness.Collaborating to write Individual Learning Plans for all students.Embedding the strategies from Individual Learning Plans in lessons to support the needs of the student.Providing timely and specific feedback to students to support learning growth.Assessing and reporting student achievement and progress.Behaviour management (including an understanding of trauma-informed practice, or a willingness to gain this knowledge).Building positive relationships with students, while maintaining professional boundaries.Manage/Coordinate teaching schedule to maximise curriculum delivery and learner outcomes.A sound understanding of the curriculum and requirements of the VCE VM and VPC.Use of the Canvas learning management platform to create accessible content for learners (training will be provided if needed).Supporting students to experience success.Minimum RequirementsFor this position with our company, applicants must be willing and able to provide:Qualification in Teaching.Annual National Police Checks.Hold a current VIT registration (VIC).Benefits of Indie EducationAttractive PBI Salary packaging is on offer through Maxxia.Uniform provided.Annual paid professional development and training with support and sufficient study time during work hours provided.15 days paid personal leave.Paid parental leave provisions.Company laptop and mobile phone provided.Access to an Employee Assistant Program.Locations all around Australia.Indie School Victoria is a child safe organisation.
