Indie College is a not-for-profit Registered Training Organisation (RTO) that delivers nationally recognised training. Indie College supports young people and adults to re-engage back into education who may have disengaged or are impacted by a variety of personal or health circumstances.
The successful applicant will work with Indie College students one-on-one or in small groups to deliver the VCE Vocational Major/Victorian Pathways Certificate. This is a non-traditional teaching role with a strong focus on re-engaging students who have not experienced success in traditional learning settings.
Workplace Tasking & Key Responsibilities
Teaching duties are aligned to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers. Key duties of the teacher may include but are not limited to:
Writing curriculum that provides adjustments for students. Planning, writing and delivering structured lessons that differentiate and personalise the learning for each student. Embedding best practice pedagogy into lesson plans to engage students. Working collaboratively in a small team to implement feedback. Supporting students with a range of learning needs, including disabilities, behavioural disturbances, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADD/ADHD, low levels of literacy/numeracy, and mental illness. Collaborating to write Individual Learning Plans for all students. Providing timely and specific feedback to students to support learning growth. Assessing and reporting student achievement and progress. Behaviour management, including an understanding of trauma-informed practice. Building positive relationships with students while maintaining professional boundaries. Manage/Coordinate teaching schedule to maximise curriculum delivery and learner outcomes. A sound understanding of the curriculum and requirements of the VCE VM and VPC. Use of the Canvas learning management platform to create accessible content for learners. Supporting students to experience success. Minimum Requirements:
