Teaching - Secondary (Education & Training) Full time Salary: $95,593 - $123,690 + super (based on qualifications & experience) Indie School Townsville is hiring teachers to commence in full-time permanent positions in January 2025 (Term 1) .

As an independent special assistance school (Years 9 to 12) with a growing national network of campuses, Indie School aims to re-engage students with learning, improve their literacy and numeracy skills, and help them find their future pathway, whether it be returning to a mainstream school, engaging in post-secondary study, or joining the workforce.
Indie School provides young people with the opportunity to learn in a supportive environment using the principles of adult education: agency, independence, mutual respect, and accountability.
Small classes (maximum 15 students), individual plans, expertly created units of work, and specialized employees assist our students in using their strengths to develop understanding and skills in their areas of challenge.

Core Workplace Objectives Preparation and delivery of programs in line with appropriate curriculum.
Enhancing effectiveness in the classroom through improved teacher knowledge, practice, and professional engagement to achieve improved standards of teaching and learning.
Ensuring the most effective use of time and resources in the delivery of classes aligned to students' individual learning and pathways plans.
Promoting the school's alternative educational and strengths-based model to ensure student goals and personal outcomes are achieved with the focus on "Changing the Lives of Young People" .
Workplace Tasking & Key Responsibilities Teaching duties are aligned to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
Key duties of the teacher may include but are not limited to: Writing curriculum that provides adjustments for students (this requires an understanding of the QLD curriculum).
Planning, writing, and delivering structured lessons that differentiate and personalize the learning for each student.
Embedding best practice pedagogy into lesson plans to engage students.
Working collaboratively in a small team to implement feedback.
Embracing opportunities to participate in coaching and mentoring programs.
Supporting students with a range of learning needs, including disabilities, behavioral disturbances, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADD/ADHD, low levels of literacy/numeracy, and mental illness.
Collaborating to write Individual Plans for all students.
Embedding the strategies from Individual Plans in lessons to support the needs of the student.
Providing timely and specific feedback to students to support learning growth (particularly through formative assessment practices).
Assessing and reporting student achievement and progress.
Behavior management (including an understanding of trauma-informed practice, or a willingness to gain this knowledge).
Building positive relationships with students while maintaining professional boundaries.
Supporting students to experience success.

Remuneration: Level 12 – Level 18 ( AWCC Enterprise Agreement 2022-2025 ) $95,593 - $123,690 + super based on training and experience.
Noting: In line with AWCC Enterprise Agreement 2022-2025 , the salary will be subject to an increase from the first full pay period in February 2025.
