Details of the offer

South West Community College – Busselton WA
Teaching - Secondary (Education & Training)
Full time from January 2025
BOTH PRIMARY AND SECONDARY TEACHERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY.

South West Community College (SWCC) - formerly Bunbury Regional Community College - is both a new school and a new kind of school.
It is a supportive learning community that encourages students to achieve their potential through the approach of 'one student at a time in a community of learners.
Our students become responsible and active members of the community through a strong focus on the principles of the Big Picture design for learning, encompassing academic excellence, development of social skills, emotional wellbeing, respect, and values.
This design is based on the belief that the unique interests, needs and abilities of each student must be at the centre of their educational program.

Our college is deliberately small with a full-time teacher and education assistant.
SWCC is a registered CARE (Curriculum and Re-engagement in Education) School and enrols students from Year 10 to Year 12 who have experienced barriers to learning in their previous high schools.

Whilst at SWCC students will:
be encouraged and helped to develop the literacy and numeracy skills that are needed for future success.
have opportunities to explore and develop their interests both with their teacher in the classroom and with mentors in the community.
complete interest projects, achieve their OLNA, study a range of certificates and short courses; and develop the academic and personal skills that will help them to create positive, productive futures beyond school.
Our purpose-built Busselton Campus in Albert Street opened earlier this year.
All students referred to the College experience barriers to education including diagnosed and undiagnosed mental health challenges, and other disabilities – social-emotional, sensory, intellectual, learning, and physical.
Teaching is adjusted and support services provided, to meet individual student needs.
A collaborative case management model is a key component of the College operations.
Teachers and other professional staff work together to find the most appropriate learning pathway for every student.

We have:
Small class sizes.
A fulltime teacher and a fulltime education assistant in each class.
Significant social and youth worker support.
To be successful in this position, teachers need to be able to:
provide students with opportunities to explore and develop their interests using a project-based learning approach.
develop students' literacy and numeracy skills.
relate well to students, other staff members and the College community.
The Benefits
