Type : Full-Time Term : Temporary Position Details Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) Teacher – Full-time, Temporary CBC Fremantle is a Catholic school in the Edmund Rice tradition for boys in Years 7-12.
Founded by the Christian Brothers in 1901, the College has served the local Fremantle community for over a century helping families to raise boys who continually strive for excellence and who exhibit Catholic Leadership in their quest to establish a more just and peaceful society.
The College seeks to assist in the spiritual, academic, cultural, physical and emotional development of boys while acknowledging the primary role of the family as educator.
As such, the College encourages its students to rigorously pursue excellence in all dimensions of their lives and to become leaders within their community through the active expression of their faith.
The successful applicant will work cooperatively with all members of staff in the interests of the students.
They will teach mainly in the Humanities and Social Sciences Learning Area across Years 7 – 12.
The ability to also teach one or more of the following subects – Politics and Law, Accounting and Finance, or Religious Education would be advantageous but not essential.
The successful applicant will be directly responsible to the Head of Learning Area and the Deputy Principal of Teaching and Learning.
The successful applicant will also be responsible for a Mentor Group at the start of each day.
This duty has the pastoral and administrative responsibilities associated with being a significant adult to a group of boys.
Key Responsibilities The successful applicant will: • Be prepared to work closely with the Principal and staff to ensure that CBC Fremantle authentically reflects the mission of a Catholic school in the Edmund Rice Tradition.
• Be able to demonstrate knowledge and expertise in the implementation of relevant HASS curriculum.
• Meet all requirements and deadlines pertaining to administration, assessment and reporting.
• Promote a vibrant and engaging learning environment by providing innovative approaches to student learning.
• Show a commitment to professional growth and engage in the CBC ASPIRE Performance Development Program.
• Establish positive relationships with students, families and staff.
• Attend the Humanities and Social Sciences Learning Area meetings.
• Undertake any other duties as reasonably required by the Principal.
Selection Criteria The successful applicant will: • Demonstrate an understanding of the charism of Blessed Edmund Rice as articulated in the Charter for Catholic Schools in the Edmund Rice Tradition.
• Give witness to their membership of a Catholic community through their attitudes, actions and practice.
• Be a knowledgeable and skilled HASS teacher and understand the nuances of teaching in a boys' education context.
• Be willing to become an active member of the CBC Fremantle community with a strong commitment to promoting and supporting the varied aspects of College life.
• Have excellent interpersonal skills which promote positive and mutually beneficial relationships and be able to work cooperatively as part of a team.
• Have well developed written and oral communication skills.
