This role spans across the College, with a teaching load in both the Primary and Secondary "Hubs".
The "Hubs" at East Kimberley College are the homeroom for our students with disabilities.
Some students access the Hub only when required, others spend part or most of their day in the Hub, depending on their required level of adjustment.We are seeking applicants who are hardworking and knowledgeable about a range of disabilities and the implementation of strategies to support and enhance individual development in literacy, numeracy and independent living skills.
The successful applicant will need to positively manage a team of Education Assistants to create a safe and supportive learning environment for students.
They engage with, and contribute to, the school community and work collaboratively with families, therapists, and outside agencies to improve student outcomes.
The Teacher – Education Support is supported by a Program Coordinator – Special Educational Needs.The successful applicant will ideally use explicit teaching strategies and exhibit effective classroom management skills to enhance student learning and wellbeing.
Applicants should also be flexible, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, a commitment to professional learning and a high-level of participation in collaborative team planning.
They will plan, program and assess using an integrated curriculum, differentiated to meet individual student needs.
Applicants will ideally have highly effective teaching practices, an ability to self-reflect and a willingness to seek constant improvement in their own practice.
