Teacher Community Language Korean - Campsie Public School

Details of the offer

Position Information Campsie Public School (CPS) is a large school in the Central Business District of Campsie, adjacent to local shops and facilities. 97% of our 570 students come from approximately 40 language backgrounds other than English (40% Chinese, 10% Nepali, 7% Vietnamese, 7% Indonesian and 7% Korean). Campsie Public School hosts the only Federally funded Korean Bilingual program in NSW. Our Korean program is taught through a CLIL (Content Language Integrated Learning) approach, where K-6 students learn regular curriculum content in the target language for 5 hours per week. Campsie Public School offers three additional community languages, as well as four other languages offered for study as a Language Other Than English (LOTE). Many students study one language in addition to English and some students study more than one. The school provides cultural experiences through extra curricula activities. Korean Drumming, K Pop Cheerleading and Mask Dancing are led by the Korean teaching staff. We are working in partnership with the Sydney Opera House to develop creativity through the Creative Leadership in Learning project. We proactively seek opportunities from external agencies to provide specialist support for our students.
Selection Criteria Approval to teach Korean Community Language Demonstrated ability to provide quality teaching practices using the Modern Language K-10 syllabus Demonstrated capacity to use data and teaching strategies to inspire and engage students in rich, authentic, differentiated learning tasks across K-6 Effective interpersonal skills to work as part of a team and collaborate with teachers to contribute and develop whole school programs while engaging with the school community Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
Special Notes Applicants are to include details of their WWCC clearance number as part of this application.
About the NSW Department of Education The Department of Education is the largest provider of public education in Australia with responsibility for delivering high-quality public education to two-thirds of the NSW student population. If we can make some adjustments to our recruitment/interview process to better enable you to shine, please contact the Diversity and Inclusion Team (******) or visit NSW Department of Education Diversity and Inclusion.
