We are seeking to establish a pool of Career Practitioner Teachers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Ballajura Community College (BCC) is one of the largest providers of the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) courses in the North East Metropolitan Region. Our College provides a high quality educational experience for all students and has remained committed to providing a range of flexible programs catering for all student interests, needs and abilities.
This specialist teaching role would support the career development of students and provide an exciting opportunity for teachers with an interest in student career pathways. Career Practitioners will work with school leadership teams and embed career development and work exposure activities into curricular and co-curricular programs.
Career Practitioners will ideally be innovators and have the ability to work collaboratively across a school. They should implement programs and provide resources to embed career development across learning areas. We are looking for teachers that enjoy working with students to help them imagine and connect with their future career aspirations. Confidence to make decisions and enact necessary curriculum reform will be highly regarded attributes for the role. Teachers in these specialist roles will also need to be competent in the interpretation and analysis of system and school-based data.
To be competitive for these roles, a high level of knowledge about the diversity of career pathways, with an understanding of school contexts in relation to local employers, community agencies and training providers is desirable. Career Practitioners should ideally have strong communication skills and be able to liaise with and share information easily with students, staff, parents, training providers, employers and industry.
