The Role
We are seeking a passionate Teacher Assistant (TA) with experience and expertise in supporting students with English as an Additional Language (EAL).
The TA will work closely with learning enhancement teachers and classroom teachers to provide assistance to EAL students, facilitating their language development and academic success. Reporting to the Head of Primary and working closely with the Head of Learning Enhancement (Secondary) & Academic Talent Development (P-12), the Teaching Assistant – EAL is responsible for supporting the Teachers in the delivery of the curriculum.
This role is a part-time (3 days per week) 2025 contract with the possibility for extension.
Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with classroom teachers to assess the needs of EAL students. Assist in delivering instructional activities that promote language acquisition and comprehension for EAL students. Provide one-on-one or small group support sessions to EAL students, focusing on speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. Support EAL students in accessing and understanding classroom content. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where EAL students feel valued and encouraged to participate. About you: Previous experience in a similar role desirable. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, students, and parents from diverse backgrounds. Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of EAL students and the College community. Cultural competence and sensitivity to the experiences and challenges of EAL students. Must have a Certificate III in Education Services. Certification or training in TESOL or EAL education is advantageous. First Aid Certificate including CPR. Must hold or be qualified to obtain current Blue Card.
