Division: Independent Public School - North Metropolitan Education Region Salary: Teacher, $82,317 - $119,246 per annum (pro-rata) (SEA GA 2023) This is a 12month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 1, 2025 with possible extension and/or permanency We at Ellenbrook Secondary College (SC) are seeking a strong and passionate Dance teacher to join our highly successful Arts team in 2025. Ellenbrook SC sets high academic, behavioural and personal standards for our students and boasts several specialist programs and extra-curricular activities that are endorsed and supported by the Department, College executive, staff, students and the very busy P&C committee. In addition to the curriculum and Specialist Programs, the College provides a range of opportunities for students to engage in extra-curricular activities before and after school, many of which are in The Arts. The successful applicant will plan for and deliver the College's Dance program within the Arts Learning Area. They should have the leadership skills required for this task as well as a passion for secondary education and the desire to impart their skills and knowledge to adolescent students. The successful applicant should have a comprehensive understanding of contemporary and jazz dance as a basis, with ideally a variety of other genres, including hip hop that can be successfully delivered. Students from Year 9 – 12 are involved in the Dance program and engage in both curriculum and extra-curricular opportunities within this artform. A comprehensive understanding of the Senior School Dance courses is desirable as well as a fundamental skillset in safety and rapport building to ensure our students can safely explore their dance journeys and stages of expertise within the classroom. To celebrate and promote the success of the program and our students, semesterly showcases are utilised to share with the College and community and our new Dance Teacher will be fundamental in the organisation and coordination of such events. As part of the Arts Learning Area, the Dance Teacher will also be encouraged to engage in the development and establishment of before or after school troupes and groups that are offered to all students who wish to engage. This may include but is not limited to events, competitions and Musical and Theatre productions that will require support and commitment in an effort to further provide opportunities and exposure to our students within the Arts. Applicants should have an excellent capacity to communicate clearly and concisely with staff, students and the community and be able to articulate a clear vision that complements and supports the College's excellent culture in teaching and learning. You will ideally have previous success with teaching Dance in a secondary setting with a high-level knowledge of the curriculum. The ability to work and collaborate in a team environment is important.
