Teacher Aide - William Ross State High School Education (Organisation site)

William Ross State High School is seeking a motivated and capable individual to join our team as a teacher aide, working within our Practical Design and Technology department. This position is 30 hours per week (0.79FTE). The aim of this role is to support teaching staff to provide every opportunity to deliver high quality, authentic learning experiences to students within the learning area, while complying with workplace health and safety requirements. The role requires a dynamic person who works well in a team environment, while being able to apply specialised industry knowledge and skills on an individual basis. More specifically, the PTD Teacher Aide facilitates the efficient and effective use of various tools, machinery and materials for practical workshop activities.
About the Role: The responsibilities of the Practical Design and Technology (PDT) Teacher Aide include:
STOCK CONTROL:
• receive, sort and store supplies in appropriate storage facilities on delivery
• prepare bulk materials for individual projects from specific class requirements (through the use of table saw, band saw, thicknesser and compound mitre saw)
• conduct stocktakes as required MAINTENANCE:
• undertake regular maintenance of tools, equipment and machinery
• action maintenance requests in order of priority
• engage appropriate external tradespersons for maintenance and repairs
• monitor electrical and mechanical equipment to adhere to service requirements CURRICULUM SUPPORT: under the direction of the teacher
• prepare project materials for curriculum and assessment activities
• set up tools, machinery and materials for practical workshop activities
• provide specialised classroom support for practical workshop activities ADMINISTRATION:
• maintain and manage asset replacement, stock control, purchasing
• maintain equipment maintenance records (EMR)
• provide administrative support with faculty, including storing of safety inductions and consent forms, filing of student assessment records, etc
• maintain safety standards within workshops
• follow chemical management procedures when decanting, storing and using chemicals and support Chem Watch manifest and safety data sheet processes
• liaise with other school support staff, including teacher aides, schools officer - facilities and grounds, HSW committee members, etc. Please view the Role Description for a full list of responsibilities.
