The Tax Manager, APAC sits in the Tax Centre of Expertise in Asia Pacific ("APAC CoE") and takes responsibility for delivering the US tax reporting and local tax compliance for a group of Asia Pacific markets, as well as assisting with global tax initiatives and transfer pricing. This role focuses on properly managing tax risk, filing accurate returns, meeting internal or jurisdictional tax deadlines, efficiently managing resources to achieve budget targets and aligning global requirements with local regulations.
Responsibilities Responsible for the direct and indirect tax compliance and US tax reporting for a group of markets in the Asia Pacific and Middle East & Africa regions. Ensures effective planning and execution of local tax compliance requirements, including preparation and review of tax returns by managing internal and external resources. Supports tax audits with close collaboration with local finance teams and corporate tax staff. Manages financial and functional analyses to determine transfer pricing implications of related party transactions, preparing the proper documentation in accordance with the local rules. Provides tax support for local business on operational issues and operating model changes. Advises the head of finance in local markets and actively educates business partners on relevant changes in tax legislations. Coordinates the preparation and review of the quarterly and annual tax provision under ASC 740 (FAS 109 and FIN48). Prepares the cash flow budget and projections related to all taxes, supporting the finance area analysis. Maintain a high standard of internal control that complies with Sarbanes Oxley, Corporate policies and procedures, local processes and local external requirements. Liaises across tax, finance, customs, treasury, legal, HR, and with external advisers to ensure compliance with local jurisdictions and assesses areas of risk. Leverages technology to create effective calculations and financial models to support tax returns and provisions, dashboards and analytics. Identifies potential tax issues, performs research, and makes recommendations to prevent & resolve tax issues. Support a high-performance operating culture throughout the organization which emphasizes the customer, teamwork, external focus and personal accountability. Qualifications, Experience and Competencies Our ideal candidate will have at least 4 years' experience in a multi-national corporate environment with strong IT and digital skills and demonstrable ability to work productively in a collaborative team environment. Law or Accounting Bachelor's degree with CA or CPA membership. Masters in Tax or Finance preferred. Four years minimum professional experience in a multi-national corporate tax environment or equivalent, including Tax compliance and reporting in at least one jurisdiction with a strong understanding of tax effect accounting. Ability to create strong working relationships remotely and across different cultures/working styles. Technical and communicative fluency in English is required, and mastery of at least one other language is desirable (Mandarin, Thai, Japanese, Korean). Experience in global and/or regional roles. Awareness of cultural diversity. Proficient in accounting provisions, accounting principles, audit and disclosure requirements of financial statements. Understanding of US GAAP is desirable. Team player who is confident in communicating with others and can work with minimal supervision. Excellent analytical and problem-solving/data analysis skills are a must. Experience in leveraging advanced tax technology tools and software to streamline tax processes and enhance reporting accuracy, with the ability to interpret complex tax data, identify trends and provide actionable insights to support decision making are desirable. Ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure. Strong interpersonal, written and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple projects and competing priorities in a time-sensitive environment. Detail-oriented and organized.
