About the Role
Reporting to the Group Head of Tax, the Tax Manager will support the Group Head of Tax with the collection of tax-related information, reporting to taxation authorities in a timely manner, and advising management on the tax impact of various corporate strategies. This includes compliance across Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific Islands and South-East Asia, and monitoring of potential risks as well as identifying and implementing tax-efficient structures within the group. You will assist the Group Head of Tax with advising on all aspects of the group's tax position, and be the key point of contact on any tax enquiries, you will monitor and update the status of various subsidiaries within the group as well as assist with ad-hoc projects. This is a critical and highly visible position.
Duties include but are not limited to:-
Advise the business units on various tax implications of their operations, with respect to direct and indirect taxes as well as payroll-related matters
Analyse and manage tax effects of cross-border transactions
Corporate tax compliance, i.e., Provisional returns, Annual Income Tax returns etc.
Research direct and indirect tax-related issues to assist business units in complying with various legislative provisions
Negotiations with tax authorities
Hands-on involvement in relation to Tax Accounting, including preparation of tax calculations, deferred tax calculations, and disclosure notes as required for Financial Reporting purposes (IFRS as well as AASB standards)
Implementation and monitoring of the Tax Governance Framework.
About You
For success in this position, we require an established Tax professional with significant experience (around ten years is ideal). You may be looking for your first move from a Big Four setting, alternatively this may be your second move. Strong industry experience will also be highly regarded , and a solid understanding of increasingly complex tax concepts is required. You will be confident in applying your tax knowledge to situations, developing and delivering innovative tax planning ideas with timely, responsive services. You will have suitable soft skills with the ability to simplify complex information to your stakeholders. CA or equivalent is essential.
