MEDIQ Financial (NSW Pty Ltd – Pyrmont NSW)The Tax Accountant is responsible for the management, development and administration of a portfolio of clients under the direction of their manager. This involves maintaining an appropriate level of service to clients and producing a high standard of work. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for delegating and reviewing work undertaken by junior team members. The Senior Accountant must be technically proficient and up to date with developments in accounting standards, systems and processes and they will readily share their expertise with staff and colleagues. The Senior Accountant is also responsible for meeting productivity, providing feedback and guidance to junior staff members and providing value-added services to clients. The Senior Accountant will take full responsibility and ownership of the completion of allocated jobs and is effectively responsible for managing their own workflow under the direction of their manager. This involves the planning, delegation and the review of this work, with the expectation that they will be capable of passing on a completed assignment back to their manager for review.Minimum RequirementsMinimum of 3+ years of relevant experience.Understanding of relevant accounting standards, tax legislation and other research as they relate to the work undertaken.Adequate amount of experience in an accounting position required to be successful in the role.Able to work with supervision on both routine and complex job matters.Able to field queries from clients in relation to non-complex technical matters.Ability to research complex matters, interpret findings and report back to the Manager/Partner.Is a product specialist (Xero, etc.) and can support other staff in acquiring this skill set.Other Roles and ResponsibilitiesManage and administer a portfolio of clients.Perform all compliance and value-add work as required to a quality standard.Review all work delegated to and completed by Graduates and offshore team.Preparation and review of complex individual, MEDIQ, trust, partnership tax returns and SMSF with limited supervision or direction.Advanced working knowledge of GST, Business Activity Statements and Installment Activity Statements.Preparing and reviewing work papers, analysis of client data and transactions and setting up accounts onto the accounting package in accordance with the organization's standards.Detailed knowledge of tax office correspondence and procedures.Displays a detailed understanding of MEDIQ secretarial matters such as lodgments, fees and general requirements.Providing feedback, coaching and technical support to any staff member that works on your clients.Providing technical support and guidance to Graduates and offshore team as requested by the Partner/Manager, along with monitoring their workflow.Identify and develop existing and potential business opportunities within the Senior Accountant's client base and discuss this with the Partner/Manager.Assist with potential and new client opportunities or initiatives such as attending client meetings, preparation of advice and presentations.Administrative Compliance.Other duties as required by the organization such as interviewing clients, attendance at training, marketing, acting as a buddy/mentor to a new member of staff, special projects.Internal training primarily focused on maintaining technical knowledge in relevant area of expertise.External training focused on the development of more specific technical knowledge through seminars and workshops.Provide assistance with the system and technical based training of Graduates and Accountants.Summary of Role RequirementsLooking for candidates available to work:Monday: MorningTuesday: MorningWednesday: MorningThursday: MorningFriday: Morning2-3 years of relevant work experience required for this role.Work visa can be provided for this role.Expected start date for role: 01 December 2024.Expected salary: $75,000 - $80,000 per year.
