About the candidate: We are seeking a dynamic, suitably qualified, and experienced Contracts Lead. To be a success in this role, you will hold qualifications in Contract Law, Supply Chain Management, or similar skillset. The ability to prepare and manage contractual documentation, along with experience using Australian Standard forms of contracts, will be key to your success.
You will take the lead in the procurement and contracting process and be a subject matter expert within the organisation, using your skills, knowledge and business acumen to achieve best outcomes for TasRail.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities Manage contracts and support procurement, quality, compliance and related functions for the organisation. Develop strong working relationships with stakeholders leading to effective contract management and communication processes. Design, develop and implement the contract management systems and processes. Review existing legislation, regulations and funding requirements to ensure contractual obligations are being met and maintain the general obligation register for utilisation by Contracts & Procurement team. Anticipate, understand or seek advice on the ramifications of all regulatory and legal issues and requirements surrounding contracts and major procurement including to provide appropriate advice to management as required and manage advising consultants in delivery of advice. Undertake research and provide quality advice to senior managers within the company in relation to issues broadly associated with contracts and major procurement, inclusive of indemnities, compliance changes, insurance advice, licenses, customer contracts and new ventures. Manage relationships and aid resolve contract disputes. Selection Criteria 3 years demonstrated experience in a Contracts, Procurement or Contract Law or similar role Relevant Tertiary qualifications which may include Supply Chain Management, Contract Management, Construction Management, Contract Law (particularly construction), or Commerce/Business. Experience in the preparation and maintenance of contractual documentation and the use of Australian Standards forms of Contract Demonstrated abilities in facilitating contract negotiations, understanding contract implications and respond effectively. A thorough understanding of procurement principles as they relate to major items for capital projects and a demonstrated understanding of Government procurement and contract rules and expectations. Demonstrated experience with document control systems to ensure effective storage and retrieval of all commercial documentation.
