Project Finance and Management Accountant PROJECT FINANCE AND MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT Full Time – Permanent
ABOUT US Tasmanian Irrigation Pty Ltd (TI) is the State-owned Company responsible for operating and developing irrigation schemes funded through public/private partnerships.
Since Tasmanian Irrigation was established in 2008, the Company has taken over management of a range of inherited assets, including dams, irrigation schemes, and river works, constructed 16 new irrigation projects, and advanced planning on a further five projects.
Tasmanian Irrigation now oversees 25,000 individual infrastructure assets with a replacement value of approximately $500 million across 19 operational schemes and has the capacity to deliver more than 145,000 megalitres of irrigation water each year.
By 2030, Tasmanian Irrigation expects to manage a portfolio of irrigation infrastructure valued at more than $900 million, capable of delivering 236,000 megalitres of water via 1,786km of pipeline, 49 pump stations, 15 dams, and three power stations.
All schemes developed and operated by Tasmanian Irrigation are economically viable, environmentally sustainable, have strong community endorsement, are designed to last at least 100 years, and deliver water at an average reliability of more than 95 per cent per annum.
ABOUT THE ROLE Tasmanian Irrigation is searching for a Project Finance and Management Accountant to join our Corporate Services Team. This position is primarily responsible for providing support and advice to Project Managers to monitor whether a project is on track, within budget, and meeting funding guidelines.
The role oversees the financial reporting and adherence of projects in line with program, State Treasury, and CFO requirements. In addition, this role will administer the contracts management system and collaborate with internal departments to maintain accurate records of the business's contracts.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED Key to this role will be an individual's ability to:
Prepare and produce monthly project financial reports and commentary. Oversee, control, and report on project funding requirements. Work with State Treasury and manage grant deed reporting. Maintain and manage accounts and overhead allocations to projects. Assist with the preparation of the corporate plan related to the Capital Program. Assist with the presentation of budgets, actual performance, variance analysis, and forecasts. Act as a Business Partner with non-finance managers to develop processes and an understanding of financial requirements. Communicate effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders. The successful Project Finance and Management Accountant will have:
Accountancy Qualifications (CA/CPA). Strong MS Office skills, particularly Excel, with TechOne experience desirable. Well-honed analytical skills and be extremely detail-oriented. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Exceptional planning and project management skills. A proactive and self-driven attitude with the ability to work autonomously.
