$109,099.00 to $123,395.00 per annum

The role involves providing information to a range of stakeholders to support the implementation of programs and activities that facilitate and expand the development of the private forest resource in Tasmania, consistent with sound forest and land management practices.
This includes promoting private forestry within Tasmania and supporting private landowners in sustainably managing their forests for forest products.

Duties Provide information, assistance, training, and education to stakeholders, clients, Agency staff, and the public on sustainable forest management on private land, including native forest management and plantation development.
Prepare and conduct educational activities individually or in conjunction with other organisations to promote a commercially viable private forest sector.
Facilitate the development and growth of an effective, efficient private forest sector through cooperation with service providers, consultants, and the investment forestry sector.
Identify practices likely to adversely impact the long-term sustainability of the private forest resource and recommend and implement appropriate remedial action.
Coordinate the maintenance and upgrading of the Private Forest Resource Inventory, and conduct surveys and assessments to monitor forests and forest operations on private land, determining forest owner attitudes and needs.
Evaluate and recommend land for Private Timber Reserves in accordance with the Forest Practices Act on behalf of the Forest Practices Board.
Proactively engage with Government agencies, stakeholders, and other organisations to promote the development of private forestry.
Prepare submissions and responses to industry and government inquiries.
Evidence of the following must be provided prior to appointment to this role:
Satisfactory completion of an appropriate course of study at a recognised tertiary institution or equivalent experience.
Current Drivers Licence.
Ability to achieve an appointment as a Warranted Forest Practices Officer (Planning) under the Forest Practices Act 1985.
The person must continue to satisfy the above essential requirements/qualifications throughout their employment in this role.
