The Department of Health is seeking a fixed-term part-time Allied Health Professional to join the Perinatal & Infant Mental Health team based in Hobart.
The Team: This role sits within the Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Service (PIMHS), which is part of the broader Child and Mental Health Service (CYMHS) and works with women experiencing mental illness and their infant children during the perinatal period. The role also provides in-reach to the Royal Hobart Hospital, working with the Mother Baby Unit and clinics, as well as assessment and treatment of outpatients.
The Role: The Allied Health Clinician is a member of the multidisciplinary Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Team, one of three teams within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). As a senior member of CAMHS, the Allied Health Clinician will:
Assist in providing specialist care to women, infants, and their families within their designated region identified as at risk of or having moderate to severe perinatal mental health disorders. Provide specialist mental health assessment and clinical management to women in the perinatal period to promote positive maternal mental health and enhance the parent-infant relationship. Work in accordance with shared care principles and within a multidisciplinary treatment team to assist women's access to specialist services and enhance their engagement with internal and external agencies. Take a lead role in the development and implementation of system changes and service improvements in the Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Team (PIMH). You will need: Demonstrated knowledge and experience within Mental Health Services, with a demonstrated understanding of PIMH clinical practice. Demonstrated knowledge, understanding, and experience of the range of psychiatric disorders which may occur in the perinatal period, and appropriate treatments. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the various factors, both antenatal and postnatal, which may affect an infant's emotional, social, cognitive, and behavioural development. Details of appointment: Fixed term, part-time, day worker position, working up to 30.4 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 30 June 2026. Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

$110,425 to $126,703 pro rata per annum + our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No.2 of 2022 . Please note that access to salaries beyond $119,290 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme. In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum. Benefits available to eligible candidates: Professional development and accelerated pathways. A range of leave entitlements, including study leave and Professional Development Support. Fitness Passport – You and your family can access 40+ fitness facilities across Tasmania for just $13.95 per week per person, or $25.95 for a family. Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
Satisfactory completion of an approved allied health professional tertiary qualification/program of study and registered with the relevant National Board or, in the case of self-regulated allied health professions, full membership/eligible for membership with the relevant professional association. Current Working with Children Registration. Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
Current Driver's Licence. Completion or progression towards the completion of a postgraduate qualification relevant to the position. Note: Please refer to the Application Guide for more information on pre-employment checks.
