Role and Responsibilities:
The Toorak Academy of Performing Arts (TAPA) offers Dance, Drama, and Musical Theatre classes to our students. As part of our TAPA program, we are seeking a dynamic and passionate Dance Teacher to join our vibrant team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is dedicated to inspiring students and fostering a love for dance!
As a TAPA Dance Teacher at Toorak College, you will:
Coach and mentor our student dance teams to a competition standard. Plan sequential skill development sessions for training students within dance. Create and implement age-appropriate sessions for Primary and Secondary students of all abilities. Work towards creating choreography for the students to perform at the annual concert. Provide weekly administration support (including coordination) for the whole Performing Arts department, including direct support to the Head of Performing Arts.About You:
The successful candidate will have:
Relevant proven experience or formal qualifications in Dance Education. Demonstrated success in delivering dance classes in the dance styles of classical and jazz to Primary, Junior and Secondary aged students. Possess an inherent understanding and passion for teaching children in a school setting, with a sound knowledge of pedagogy in teaching. Outstanding commitment to excellence in Dance Education and a proven capacity for innovative, flexible and research-based teaching practices. Ensure consistent delivery of lessons. Excellent communication skills and an ability to connect with students of varying ages. Be willing to adopt change, collaborate and strive for professional excellence. A current Employee Working with Children check or willing to obtain prior to commencement.This ongoing part-time position will see the successful candidate working during term time only, with the opportunity to take on further coaching for our competition Dance teams.
