About the role: We are seeking a proactive and experienced Design Engineer to support our Design and Drafting team in the design and drafting of engineered water storage tanks. You will be responsible for the technical and engineering aspects within the design team while working autonomously on designs, assisting the drafting team leader in overseeing the drafting team, and collaborating with project management and research and design teams to successfully contribute to the implementation of engineering initiatives.
Key Responsibilities: Creating new and modified mechanical assemblies using SolidWorks and AutoCAD. Producing general assembly drawings, construction drawings, and BOM. Maintenance and updating of drawing registers and libraries. Assisting with standardisation and systematisation projects where required. Providing technical guidance and support during the planning, design, and execution of projects. Working closely with production and construction to ensure designs are practical for fabrication and installation. Ensuring all engineering activities comply with company safety protocols and industry regulations. Ensuring all drawings comply with relevant Australian and New Zealand Standards. Leading drafters and interns by setting objectives, managing workflow, and ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget. Evaluating processes to identify ways to improve efficiency and reduce waste. Contributing to an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture. Listening to team members' feedback and assisting in resolving any issues or conflicts. Delegating tasks and setting deadlines. Determining whether a design solution is user-friendly and cost-effective. About you: Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Civil, or related field). Minimum of 5 years of experience in design engineering with experience in drafting or a related role, preferably within the water storage industry. Experience with design for manufacturing. Excellent problem-solving abilities with a keen eye for detail. Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and other relevant engineering tools. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Knowledge of industry standards and regulations: AS1657, AS 1170, AS4100, AS4600, AS2304 (preference).
