Reporting to the Procurement Coordinator, the successful candidate will work with the Procurement Coordinator and other Strategic Sourcing Specialists to ensure the procurement needs of the business are adequately met. Purchasing cover will occasionally form part of this role.
Purpose of the Role Responsible for the acquisition of Goods and Services and administration of Contracts; Support compliance of Procurement policies, procedures, contract, commercial conditions, and optimises service times for the company and contractor areas; The Strategic Sourcing Specialist will ensure a high level of support to user departments for RFx bidding, sourcing, analysis, award, contract development, execution, supplier performance, relationship management and contract administration; Apply an ethical, efficient, risk managed, consistent and cost effective approach at every stage of the sourcing process. Qualifications/Skills The following qualifications are considered desirable for this position: Relevant Tertiary qualifications in Business, Supply Chain or related field or equivalent experience; Three (3) to five (5) years of directly related Procurement or Contractor management experience; Mining experience highly regarded; Strong computer skills using office software such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint; Knowledge of SAP or equivalent enterprise level software packages; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Formal professional or technical registration in appropriate area of expertise; Strong Analytical and Negotiation skills; Customer orientated with Interpersonal skills and relationship building. Key Areas of Responsibility Support the continuous improvement and execution of relevant purchasing strategy, policies and guidelines in regard to assigned categories and contracts; is accountable for value-added, cost savings, and other performance metrics; Coordinate the contracting yearly needs with the user areas as well as identify and develop suppliers in the market to support commercial and operational needs; Develop contract documentation and provide input and suggestions to improve execution practices for activities related to the purchasing and category management process; Understand and support the implementation of the strategic sourcing methodology and ongoing management of the category; Negotiate commercial and contractual conditions and coordinate with contractors to acquire goods and services according to operational requirements, seeking the best possible price, terms of execution and quality in consideration of the Total Cost of Ownership model; Increase value by improving safety, service, quality and compliance outcomes that reduce risk and contribute to cost reductions; Execute the supplier relationship management process including but not limited to tracking supplier performance metrics, safety history and customer satisfaction metrics; Ensure timely and professional service to user departments in the preparation and evaluations of bids, negotiation with suppliers, and recommendation to management for approvals; Participate in training presentations and courses for users and contractors in order to communicate purchasing policies and procedures. Scope of Responsibility The Strategic Sourcing Specialist is accountable for the spend, Supplier performance and relationship management under the category of responsibility; The Specialist is required to interpret the needs and determine the requirements of User Departments, which requires a strong emphasis on appropriate planning, contracting strategies, accurate documentation, disciplined tendering, administration processes and strong coordination, user interface and support; The Strategic Sourcing Specialist will manage their own performance expectations towards the achievement of Supply Chain Management customer service objectives while working with the Site End User Departments to determine and anticipate service needs, planned events, project requirements and forecasting requirements.
