Aviagen is the world's leading poultry breeding company, delivering day-old broiler breeder grandparent and parent chicks to customers in over 130 countries. We are seeking a Senior Quality Assurance Technician to join our Australian Hatchery in Goulburn, NSW. This critical role ensures the highest quality chicks are delivered to our customers, supporting animal welfare, biosecurity, and continuous improvement.
Role Overview: Reporting to the Quality Assurance Lead, the Senior Quality Assurance Technician oversees the implementation of quality systems, ensures compliance with agricultural and biosecurity standards, and mentors a Quality Assurance Technician. The successful candidate will lead quality audits, inspect production processes, and manage reporting, ensuring compliance with Australian agricultural standards and Aviagen's global policies.
Key Responsibilities: Implement and maintain quality control systems aligned with biosecurity, animal welfare , and Aviagen agricultural standards . Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with industry best practices. Manage data collection and analysis related to chick health, incubation, and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity. Oversee hygiene sampling , including ATP testing and microbiological sampling, and report findings to management. Lead continuous improvement initiatives , identifying and implementing process enhancements. Mentor and supervise a Quality Assurance Technician, fostering skill development and adherence to quality protocols. Prepare for and participate in internal and external audits to maintain regulatory compliance. Collaborate with Hatchery Management and the broader Quality Team to address customer concerns and support operational excellence. Skills and Experience: Degree in Agricultural Science , Animal Science , or a related field. Minimum two years' experience in a quality assurance role within an agricultural or poultry production environment. Strong data analysis, report writing, and Microsoft Office proficiency (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint). Experience with biosecurity protocols and HACCP certification or equivalent. Leadership and mentoring experience in a technical environment. Experience with microbiological testing and data interpretation. Familiarity with Aviagen's quality principles or similar industry standards. #J-18808-Ljbffr
