Details of the offer

Volunteering in Nepal is a deeply rewarding experience. Take on Nepal have been proudly arranging Nepali volunteering trips and placements, since 2012. One of our founders, Som Tamang, was born and raised in Nepal. While he now resides in Australia, with his Irish wife and three young children, he's passionate about helping the people living in remote Himalayan villages. He is particularly focused on improving the life and education of village children, whilst providing volunteers with an enriching and enlightening experience in Nepal. Take on Nepal can co-ordinate and place adults and students on volunteering trips, manage and host high school expeditions and combine volunteering with trekking, for a truly unforgettable journey. For more information, contact Susan or Som at Take on Nepal today.
VOLUNTEERING IN NEPALVolunteering in Nepal will change lives, yours and those of the people you help. You don't need to be a doctor or engineer to volunteer, Take on Nepal welcome anyone who wants to give their time, to assist in rural and remote mountain villages. Live like a local, volunteer at the village school and help around the community with daily chores. Your location is awe inspiringly beautiful. A wide valley filled with rice fields and dotted with villages.
One of our most popular packages! An amazing 21-day group placement at Batase Village, volunteering in the local school, followed by an epic trek to Everest Base Camp. This fully inclusive 33-day package provides great value for money and includes all accommodation, tours, guides, meals and much, much more.
Combining volunteering with trekking is something Take on Nepal specialise in. The 21-day Pokhara Volunteering and Trekking package combines a spectacular 6-day Poon Hill Trek, with a volunteer placement at the Himalayan Children's Care Home. This is an amazing, inspiring adventure which will change lives forever.
Student volunteering in Nepal is very popular and we have a 21-day program, designed specifically for this market. It includes spending two weeks in a remote Himalayan Village, volunteering at the local school and around the community. It also provides the time, space and place for some amazing sightseeing and cultural experiences and interactions.
This project is the brain child of Christina Lee, a student at the Australian National University (ANU). Her goal is to build a 21st century library for Batase Village and stop human trafficking. To help achieve this, she is gathering a group of 16 ANU students, who will travel to Nepal to build the library and then trek to Everest Base Camp. Take on Nepal are proudly partnering this initiative, as are Libraries Without Borders.
Dreams are made of this. Nepal is a spectacular destination, offering high school students a diverse array of educational experiences, including trail walking, cultural interactions and visits to Buddhist Monasteries. Nepal is a safe destination and Take on Nepal have proudly arranged, co-ordinated and hosted, several very successful high school expeditions. Can also be tailored for university groups and those wanting a gap year trip. Contact us today for more information.

At Take on Nepal, we're pleased to arrange and assist with volunteering placements, for various locations and durations. We are one of the few Nepal trekking and volunteering operators to be owned and operated by a Nepali born individual, Som Tamang, and his Irish life partner Susan. Som and Susan are completely committed to giving back to Nepal, ensuring each of their treks and tours makes a positive and lasting contribution to the local villages, people and places they visit. Take on Nepal was founded first and foremost to connect visitors to Nepal, with the real Nepal. Providing unique opportunities to make a real difference. We provide real experiences, create employment and offer value for money expeditions.
The best tour operator for visiting Nepal! Their team are all incredibly hard working, kind and knowledgeable. We loved every moment of our time with them!

Trip of a lifetime!!! The professionalism, local knowledge, care, food and accomodation was next level. Their philanthropic philosophy and grass roots work with local communities and education was inspiring particularly the work they are doing focusing on young womens education. I can't wait to plan my next adventure with "Take on Nepal" but bring my kids with me next time. Bijay our guide and Indra our porter were absolute superstars!!!! I can't thank you enough. Namaste!

My sincere gratitude to the Take On Nepal team for a truly memorable experience. They are wonderful ambassadors for Nepalese culture, and I am very grateful for their guidance, support and experience that enabled me to complete the Three Pass Circuit, EBC and successful summit of Island Peak in November 2023.

I highly recommend Take On Nepal for the following reasons:

- Consistent and reliable customer service throughout my end-to-end customer experience (i.e. from first contact, trip planning, in country welcome, trekking leadership, guidance and support, to checking in that I arrived home OK after leaving Nepal)
- Very responsive communication - both whilst I was abroad trip planning and within country during my adventure
- Tailored trip planning and execution - especially working with Som, Susan, Dinesh, Sabin, Sukuman and Sanu to plan and deliver a bespoke adventure tailored to my aspirations, fitness level and experience.
- Quality services - especially on summit day, good quality mountaineering gear, experienced trekking and mountaineering guides who understood my strengths and weaknesses and adapted to support me throughout the adventure.
- Professional and caring approach to the health and safety of guests
- Hassle free logistics so I could focus on the adventure
- And finally they're just really friendly, caring and fun people to be around.

Would absolutely partner with the team again for another adventure (next time with the kids!) in Nepal.

Dhanyabad to the Take on Nepal team!

We successfully completed the EBC trek in Nov 2023 and this was due to the professionalism of the Take On Nepal team in Nepal. A special mention to the best people we could ever have (Sandip, Alisha, Sanu and Indra) in guiding us and making this a very memorable trip. Highly recommend you reach out and book with this company.
Trustindex rating score: 5.0 of 5, based on 261 reviews Connect With UsLONG TERM VOLUNTEERING IN BATASE VILLAGETake On Nepal is committed to supporting volunteers who choose to stay for a long period of time. The longer you stay, the more change you can make. Extended terms of volunteering provides a great opportunity for the village children, and the volunteers themselves. We encourage qualified teachers, health professionals and individuals with valuable skills that will benefit the villagers, to consider a long-term placement in Batase Village.
For the first 2 weeks you will join the Batase Village Volunteer Program at a standard cost of $990. Subsequent weeks are charged as per below. NB: All costs cover your food and the expenses incurred by the villagers, to support and sustain your stay.
The Batase Village Volunteer Program departs from Kathmandu on a monthly basis.
LIVE AND WORK ALONGSIDE THE VILLAGERSThis is experiencing the real Nepal. You'll be living alongside the locals, eating the same food they do and helping them with English language skills. The villagers are very welcoming to foreigners and find themselves intrigued by all the gadgets they bring with them. iPads and cameras, lap-tops and Kindles are all foreign devices that are unfamiliar to people who still live in mud houses, without chimneys or proper furniture.
You won't be alone during your stay here. Take on Nepal co-ordinate groups of volunteers to go together. In our experience, this leads to friendships that last a lifetime.
We have a team of people on the ground in Batase, locals who know the area inside out, as well as representatives from our Australian office who can help with any adjustment issues.
Take on Nepal work hard, to ensure your volunteering in Nepal experience is one you will never forget. Inspire, connect and engage.
