About the role TAFE NSW Eora is a culturally safe and community-connected space. It acts as a second chance establishment for both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people. Specialising in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education and training, TAFE NSW Eora is dedicated to empowering Indigenous communities. TAFE Counsellors are responsible for providing culturally safe educational and vocational counselling for intending and enrolled students, and personal counselling for enrolled students within TAFE NSW. The role will utilise your high standard of professional practice; your ability to work independently; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; well-developed time management and organisational skills; & computer proficiency. This role will deliver counselling support to students who may be participating in courses on campus or through connected delivery so a capacity and interest in providing counselling services across face to face and tele practice modalities would be beneficial. Aboriginality (Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act of 1977). Appropriate Degree and at least 3 years study in Psychology or other such study as the Employer deems appropriate. Two years of relevant vocational experience. Eligible for Psychology registration with AHPRA or the Australian Association of Social Work. Two years of relevant and recent counselling experience in personal counselling and vocational or educational counselling, or post-graduate qualifications in relevant counselling areas.
