Primary Objective: Manage key biodiversity databases and associated applications for internal and external users.
Context Statement: Providing information and advice on biodiversity matters is a core function of the Flora and Fauna Division.
As a Systems Support Officer, you will be responsible for supporting the provision of data and information services for the Division including terrestrial and marine fauna and flora, threatened and migratory species, and the ecosystem processes that are important to biodiversity conservation in the NT.
The role will also develop and maintain a broad range of biodiversity and biophysical databases and applications including external facing information delivery systems.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Support the management and maintenance of corporate databases and business systems to ensure integrity and currency of flora and fauna biodiversity data as well as compliance with department policies and standards.
Work with project teams and various program stakeholders to develop and maintain web and mobile-based systems design and architecture.
Migrate, integrate, and link data and information from a variety of sources into corporate information systems.
Assist with designing and maintaining systems used by the Division to provide information for analysis and reporting purposes.
Develop and maintain operational system documentation, training material, and end-user documentation.
Analyze and translate function specifications into technical specifications.
Use version control tools for source code management.
Actively participate as a member of the data management team, contributing innovative ideas and solutions.
Selection Criteria: Essential: Well-developed Oracle database skills (or similar), including development and maintenance of databases, managing large datasets from diverse sources, and SQL development.
Experience with software/application development including associated software, frameworks, and languages (e.g., PWA,.
NET, C#) and ability to utilize source code management platforms (e.g., Git Hub, Dev Ops).
Demonstrated experience in Extract Transform Load (ETL), including design, development operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
Ability to use data visualization software and reporting tools.
Experience with establishing, maintaining, and updating systems documentation and training materials.
Understanding of, and ability to implement, data governance processes and procedures.
Relevant tertiary qualification in information technology, data science, or other relevant disciplines.
Desirable: Proficiency in spatial data management and manipulation.
Ability to develop and manage API.
Experience with ecological data.
