DroneShield (ASX:DRO) offers an opportunity to solve some of world's most challenging technical problems in the Electronic Warfare, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, RF sensing, Sensor Fusion and distributed systems.
Working with high profile customers across militaries, government agencies, airports, critical infrastructure, law enforcement and many others.
With an approximately $1bn market capitalisation and having raised approximately $250m in 2024 alone, DroneShield is undergoing hypergrowth stage, fuelled by rapidly increasing use of drones for nefarious applications, from battlefield, to terrorism, to contraband delivery and commercial espionage.
This role is in the DroneShield Sydney headquarters in Pyrmont, Sydney.
There are approximately 200 staff based in the 4,000sqm facility today, scheduled to grow to approximately 300 staff by end of 2026.
Overseas on the ground presence includes Virginia (USA), Denmark, Germany and Dubai, as well as distributors in over 70 countries globally.
About the roleThe company is seeking a Systems Engineering Team Lead with relevant experience to join the development team in Sydney, Australia.
The position will report to the Embedded Quality Engineering Manager.
The role is focused on leading a team of systems engineers and collaborate with stakeholders to understand embedded product requirements and decompose these into technical specifications, overseeing the development and integration of subsystems into a cohesive product that aligns with business expectations.
Responsibilities, Duties and ExpectationsLead and mentor a team of systems engineers within the embedded product space, providing technical guidance and support ensuring alignment between the team's objective and broader organisation's goals.Introduce systems engineering processes that promote best practices and provide a framework for product development, seeking to increase efficiency and improve project outcomes.Oversee and manage the documentation for system design, requirements and testing ensuring accuracy and completeness.Facilitate engagement between internal and external project stakeholders to ensure alignment, communicating risks and technical information to senior management.Conduct engineering investigation and analysis to ensure continual improvement of the products and take ownership over bugs and technical issues, coordinating solutions with cross-functional teams.Oversee and support the development and documentation of test strategies, specifically focusing on integration testing to ensure that subsystems work together to meet the overall system goals.Support project tracking and timelines keeping development teams informed of key milestones and performance metrics.Work with a cross-functional team of designers, developers and engineers to continuously improve the product by acting as the voice of the customer within the development teams.Application of architectural and design skills to decompose the system into a structured hierarchy of requirements and well-defined interfaces.Facilitate and provide input to the design of features to ensure they meet customer or business requirements, using a solid understanding of DroneShield's product offering, technical and environmental constraints.Qualifications, Experience and SkillsBS or Masters degree in relevant engineering discipline (Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science), or similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience.8+ years of experience performing systems engineering responsibilities within complex project environments.2+ years of demonstrated experience in a leadership or a team management role.Ability to influence without authority and effectively advocate for the team's needs and viewpoints.Demonstrated experience in the successful development and delivery of products comprised of complex embedded system architecture.Experience developing and testing AI-incorporated systems, radio frequency (RF) hardware and software is desirable.Experience across the entire product development lifecycle from product discovery and inception to delivery and sustainment.Exposure to Electronic Warfare, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, RF sensing, Sensor Fusion and distributed systems is desirable.Understanding of cybersecurity practices in systems engineering to ensure the integrity and security of systems is desirable.Skilled in systems integration, testing frameworks, and troubleshooting, with a systematic approach to problem-solving.You are comfortable working within the Atlassian ecosystem and have experience managing project deliverables using Jira or other project management tools.You would excel in a high empowerment, fast paced, environment, surrounded by likeminded, high achieving people. #J-18808-Ljbffr
