Role Overview: TP Human Capital is working with a government client in Townsville to fill a 6-month contract role , with the possibility of extension.
The Systems Engineer will lead the delivery of critical IT services, ensure compliance with safety and legislative requirements, and drive continuous improvement through strong technical leadership.

The pay rate for this position is $63 to $68 per hour.
Key Responsibilities: Manage the effective delivery of IT services, ensuring they meet business needs and align with ITIL best practices.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service quality, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Provide advanced technical leadership across a broad range of IT systems and services, including Microsoft Windows environments (Active Directory, Exchange, DNS, DHCP, GPO, Certificate Services), cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure, Office 365, SharePoint, Teams), and enterprise data protection tools (Dell PowerProtect, DataDomain).
Lead automation and scripting initiatives using tools like PowerShell, Bicep, and Azure Infrastructure as Code.
Oversee virtualisation platforms (VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V), networking and security technologies (Cisco, WAN, Azure Virtual Networks, Palo Alto), and application delivery solutions (F5, Azure Application Gateway).
Provide technical solutions that integrate diverse systems to deliver maximum value to the organisation.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business, ensuring clear and effective communication of IT service goals and outcomes.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align IT initiatives with wider organisational objectives.
Key Requirements: Tertiary qualification in Information Technology or equivalent professional experience.
ITIL certification or proven experience in Service Management principles.
8+ years experience in IT, with at least 3–5 years in a senior management or leadership position.
Expertise in key technologies including Microsoft products, Azure, virtualisation, networking, security, and data protection.
Proven leadership and communication skills, with experience in managing teams and working with diverse stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving, organisational, and analytical abilities with a focus on business outcomes.
Experience working in an agile environment, managing competing priorities and resources.
