ABOUT THIS ROLE Our large federal government client requires a System Engineer to work under general direction are responsible for specifying, implementing and planning of technical equipment and systems to support delivery of information and security capabilities.
The Specified Person will be expected to demonstrate attributes of SFIA Level of Responsibility 4.
Current Top-Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) security clearance is strongly preferred, however candidates who have held a TSPV in the previous 12-month period (which has since been downgraded) may be considered.
Estimated start date: Thursday, 30 January 2025 Initial contract duration:12 months Extension term: 12 months Number of extensions: 2 Location of work: ACT KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Configure, maintain and patch a small VMWare based environment, adhering to ISM controls and best practices.
Carry out agreed operational procedures, including configuration, installation, maintenance and patching of network security systems.
Use network management tools to collect and report on network load and performance statistics.
Maintain knowledge of systems and/or security engineering processes, provide detailed advice regarding their application and execute systems engineering tasks.
Identify operational problems and contribute to their resolution, checking that they are managed in accordance with agreed standards and procedures.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE NEEDED Australian Citizenship and a TSPV security clearance is essential.
Experience administering a VMWare environment, including some server, storage and network infrastructure.
Good knowledge of information security principles, practices and technologies.
Desirable Experience with administering security applications such as a SIEM (e.g.
Arcsight, Splunk), vulnerability management tools or endpoint protection tools, or network security technologies (e.g.
Cisco or Palo Alto Firewalls).
Experience with Linux systems and Linux security tools.
