Description:The Systems Engineer will be required to perform and/or have responsibility for duties including, but not limited to:
Develop and subsequently execute an agreed detailed plan for specific platforms to ensure the requirements, deliverables and progression of the project are completed in alignment with the platforms respective SPO and principle Engineers requirements.Develop and maintain a constructive, open and transparent working relationship with the key stakeholders for the specifically allocated Navy Platforms.Facilitate the progression and subsequent approval of a Request for Problem Resolution.Work closely with the respective Installation Manager to ensure the platforms is approved in advance of the planned deployment.Work closely with the respective Engineering Manager to ensure that the required engineering deliverables is planned well in advance of the required delivery dates.Identify engineering risks, issues and opportunities for the specifically allocated Platforms.Provide strategic, specialist and professional engineering advice.Establish engineering control processes and practices for the specifically allocated platforms.Develop and implement relevant engineering documentation and other briefs or presentations for project management.Prepare and manage costs including conducting due diligence (cost analysis) on contractor surveys and quotes.Required Skills and Experience: Essential - Relevant tertiary qualification i.e.
Bachelor of Engineering.Essential - Demonstrated experience working in Defence as a Systems Engineer, managing technical aspects of project delivery.Essential – RAN platform knowledge and experience.Demonstrated experience with the Navy AD514 Engineering processes.
Process orientated with good attention to detail.Strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills with ability to present and engage with both internal and external stakeholders and Projects.Desirable Skills and Experience: Experience working within the Defence maritime environment.Demonstrated experience and knowledge in Defence Capability Lifecycle Projects.Military/APS/Contractor experience working with Ship Class SPO's and ISSC's.Work arrangement: Mon – Fri business hours, 40-hour standard working week, occasional overtime by agreement.Canberra/Sydney based preferred.Will need to travel interstate on semi-regular basis and physically board Navy Ships during maintenance periods (i.e.
