We are looking for a highly skilled and proactive Systems Engineer/Administrator (Systems E/A) to support the operations and reliability of our IT infrastructure. As a critical member of the systems operations team, working closely with DevOps, you will ensure the performance, security, and evolution of both internal and customer-facing systems.
The Systems E/A will play a vital role in maintaining internal servers and network infrastructure, including customer solutions, to ensure minimal downtime and system stability. You will also help shape the infrastructure design and implementation to support business and product operations, covering a broad range of systems including servers, networking, security, single sign-on, disaster recovery, and security management. This role includes managing both on-premises and cloud services resources using mainstream technologies.
Key Responsibilities: Linux Server Administration: Administer Linux servers, including the deployment of Trellis Data releases, updates, patch management, and troubleshooting. Manage and optimise physical and virtual servers to ensure continuous uptime and peak performance.Network Design & Configuration: Design, install, and manage complex network architectures, ensuring high availability, secure connectivity, and scalability.Security Management: Collaborate with the security team to implement robust security policies and configurations, ensuring the integrity of servers, networks, and products. Familiarity with security standards such as the Essential Eight, ISO 27001, and NIST is required.Disaster Recovery Planning: Develop and maintain disaster recovery strategies to ensure the rapid recovery of critical resources.Single Sign-On Configuration: Configure and maintain SSO solutions for both on-premises and cloud environments.Monitoring and Maintenance: Monitor system performance, identify potential issues, and implement proactive solutions to minimise downtime.Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or relevant work experience).Ability to hold and maintain a Negative Vetting-1 (NV1) security clearance.Proven experience (minimum 5 years) as a Systems Engineer or Senior Systems Administrator in a similar role, preferably in the software or technology industry.Experience with Bash and Python scripting languages.Proficiency in automation tools like Bitbucket Pipelines, Ansible, or similar.Expertise in Windows Server 2019, Linux (Debian) and newer versions.Experience with virtualisation technologies (e.g., VMware, Docker, vSphere, vCenter), firewall management, and server management tools (e.g., iDRAC).Located in Canberra or willing to relocate.Why Join?
