This role is based in our Sydney office with Hybrid working arrangement. Role Purpose Reporting to the Senior IT manager with a dotted line to the UK Service Delivery manager, the IT System Administration Engineer (SAE) will play a pivotal role in supporting the successful delivery of IT services to our Australian organisation. You will enable business outcomes through the provision of best practice IT System Administration, office equipment maintenance including and not limited to laptops, printers, headsets and audio-visual equipment.
The SAE will be the local owner of Infrastructure assets, both physical and virtual, working to enable modern technologies in support of business growth. Enabling business and IT goals through the effective provision of cloud-based services in line with evolving global standards.
The provision of mature IT support processes is a critical enabler to business growth, risk reduction and improvement in IT quality within the region. The successful role holder will be accountable for IT support within our growing Australian business.
Key Responsibilities: Install and configure software and hardware Manage network servers and technology tools Set up accounts and workstations Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements Troubleshoot issues and outages Ensure security through access controls, backups and firewalls Upgrade systems with new releases and models Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies Build an internal wiki with technical documentation, manuals and IT policies Provide exceptional IT customer service to business colleagues within the Australian business unit Follow established incident and request management procedures to ensure tickets are resolved within agreed service levels Identify and implement IT support improvement initiatives Escalate issues as necessary to senior technical teams or external partners, while maintaining ownership and communication with local colleagues Manage multiple requests concurrently Strong communication with business and IT colleagues, giving clear updates on progress, priorities and pre-requisites Create and maintain local documentation for issue resolution and solutions, making these easily accessible for both the IT and business teams. Create and maintain local standard operating procedures for IT technology deliverables Own and maintain local hardware and software assets, including asset register, procurement of local hardware and replacement and renewal of assets both physical and virtual Performance Indicators: Delivery against global Incident, Problem, Change and Request Management processes, and process outcomes Performance against agreed Service Level Agreements and KPI's. Employee satisfaction survey. Security scoring Helpdesk satisfaction surveys Experience: Demonstrated experience and proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator or similar role Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery Ability to create scripts in Python, Perl or other languages Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms including expertise in Windows centric environments and key tools that are part of the Office suite Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude Excellent communication skills Strong prioritisation skills with the ability to manage multiple demands simultaneously Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders Experience of working globally, where standards and processes are developed for a global organisation. Excellent communication skills to work with diverse stakeholders and drive decision making. Sound stakeholder management and collaboration skills with the ability to lead and inspire cross-functional interdisciplinary teams including third party and augmented resource Pragmatic, adaptive, energic with a bias towards action, execution, and continuous improvement Attention to detail. Knowledge: Demonstrated current experience in a complex and technologically focused organisation. Ideally holding role specific certifications IT security aware, with the ability to deliver to, and influence local and global standards Deployment and operation of both on-premise and cloud-based solutions. Knowledge of enterprise service management best practice (e.g., ITIL) Hands-on and current Windows, Office Suite, physical equipment support Appreciation of technology and architecture best practice to be able assess the suitability of a solution to address a business problem and understand the associated technical delivery risk Self-learning as required such as Microsoft knowledge base articles, manufacturer documentation, third party technical forum.
