Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and working closely with the Finance Coordinator and Financial Planning & Analyst, the primary focus of this position will be to drive continuous improvement of financial systems and processes while overseeing daily operations of the accounts payable team, identifying any potential skill gaps within the organisation and providing training where appropriate.
The right person for this role will be someone who naturally enjoys playing around with financial systems and excel reports to 'figure things out' - someone who is curious and seeks to understand why things are done a certain way, and has the ability to adapt their communication style to explain complex financial information to different audiences when required.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesDrive the enhancement and maintenance of various financial systems and reporting processesSeek to understand existing financial processes and reporting activities, identifying opportunities to streamline for improvementWork with the wider finance team and business stakeholders on providing finance systems supportProvide leadership to a team of dedicated accounts payable staff, identifying opportunities for training and skill developmentOversee performance of the accounts payable function ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, and helping troubleshoot day to day operational issuesCoordinate end of month processes and perform monthly review of reconciliationsSkills & Experience requiredDemonstrated leadership (formal or informal) experience with the ability to coach, mentor, and guide the performance of other team membersPrior experience in full financial accounting responsibilities within a high volume work environmentStrong aptitude for systems accounting - someone who prides themselves on high level analysis, problem solving, and process improvementAdvanced Excel skills, ideally with experience in Power BI, Workday and/or Sage, or similar financial management systemsHighly developed communication and interpersonal skills as this role will require you to support a team and engage with stakeholders across the businessBenefits & CultureAdd considerable value to the organisation in this newly created position as a direct result of business growth and successWork with a CFO who is forward thinking, collaborative, and highly respected within the organisationJoin an experienced finance team that is known for its stability and long tenureOngoing opportunities for this position to grow and evolve with the organisation over timeMulticultural environment that embraces and promotes diversity and inclusionWest End location, close to public transport and paid street parkingAbout the CompanyThis is a highly respected non-profit organisation who have a strong reputation in the sector for their commitment to social justice.
