The Role & The Team
Your role as Western Sydney & Canberra (WS/CB) System Safety Manager will be to develop safety arguments, lead system safety engineering activities.
The key deliverables include but are not limited to:
safety plans.
safety cases.
safety reports.
As the System Safety Manager, your responsibilities will include:
Identify and lead system safety resources including internal and contractor resources across the program to ensure ongoing technical, operational and safety support to the safety program.
Timely delivery of all engineering and technical safety related artefacts and activities.
Provide safety engineering expertise and leadership to ensure that the changes to systems and process are compliant with Airservices SMS and ensure that safety risk associated with the changes are managed within Airservices risk tolerance levels.
Support and lead the development and maintain key safety artefacts including Safety Plan, Safety Argument, Risk Registers and Safety Reporting including endorsing all project and program safety cases and reports and other documentation in accordance with Airservices SMS and the approved Safety Plan.
Plan, coordinate and facilitate the conduct of safety engineering activities as defined in the safety program, including hazard identification, hazard analysis, risk assessment, technical, system and human factors workshops and Safety Plan Working Groups.
Communicate and consult with stakeholders, accountable managers and the regulator in working to obtain risk acceptance, approvals and/or no objections.
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:
Tertiary qualification in engineering that is accredited/recognised by Engineers Australia in the Professional Engineer category or equivalent.
Postgraduate qualifications and/or extensive demonstrated experience in Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering and/or RAM Engineering (desirable).
Demonstrated experience in development of leading and authoring technical safety cases/safety argument.
Experience in system safety works in air traffic control systems and/or experience in working in Airservices environment highly regarded.
Demonstrated experience in SFARIP and ALARP methodology applications and development.
Demonstrated experience applying system safety analysis techniques/methodologies.
Authoring and leading Hazard Analysis and applying PHA, FHA, FTA, HAZOP, FMECA, RCM.
Extensive knowledge of system safety engineering principles and processes their influence on the timing of system safety engineering activities, and inputs/outputs that exist between the different disciplines that contribute to the systems engineering design process is essential.
Familiarity with Eurocontrol Safety Assessment Methodology (desirable).
Demonstrated in depth understanding of systems engineering processes.
Understanding of human factors application in evaluating change.
Effective and concise written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to engage stakeholders, foster relationships, facilitate partnerships and cooperation at all levels.
Security Clearance
