environment.We are seeking candidates who ideally can demonstrate a strong operational engineering skill set as well as a design background with a focus on design for manufacture.Creativity, flexibility and positivity through challenges are characteristics we are seeking in our team.The position will include the following responsibilities: Risk Assessment: Conducting thorough risk assessments of maritime systems and subsystems to identify potential hazards, risks, and safety concerns.This involves analyzing various failure modes and their potential consequences.Safety Analysis: Performing safety analyses such as Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and Hazard Analysis to assess system safety and identify safety-critical components or processes Safety Requirements Management: Developing and managing safety requirements for maritime systems.This involves translating safety goals and objectives into specific requirements and ensuring they are properly implemented and verified by the engineering and test programs.Safety Verification and Validation: Planning and executing test activities to ensure that safety requirements are met and that the system operates safely under various operating conditions and scenarios.Safety Documentation: Generating safety documentation, including Safety Cases, Hazard Logs, Safety Assessment Reports, and Safety Plans, to demonstrate compliance with safety standards and regulations and provide evidence of safety assurance.Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring process and product compliance with relevant maritime safety regulations, standards, and guidelines.Safety Culture Promotion: Promoting a strong safety culture within the organisation by raising awareness of safety issues, providing safety training and education, and embedding design for safety as a primary goal within the engineering and test program teams.Wider safety culture advocacy such as encouraging the reporting of safety-related incidents and near-misses.Safety Management System (SMS) Development: Adapting and aligning current safety management arrangements with the specific needs of maritime operations, including policies, procedures, and processes for managing safety risks effectively, especially during the test program.Qualifications This is a multi-faceted developmental project with a significant physical test program.This requires the right safety mindset in system development and strong attention to test safety.Our ideal candidate has safety experience in both technical and operational Engineering credentials, for example, MIEAust, MRINA, Chartered Engineer Additional Information Location: we operate a nationally-distributed team.The project is centred around our Newcastle, Canberra and East Melbourne teams / locations.All east-coast mainland locations will be considered, but a moderate amount of domestic travel should be expected as part of the role.Employment type: Permanent
