Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Systems Administrators & DevOps Engineers - Bands 4, 5 & 6. Positions are currently available in the Covert Systems Team (CST) and Surveillance Infrastructure & Integration (SIRI) team.
Digital Surveillance Collection (DSC) develops and operations a wide range of lawful covert surveillance capabilities in support of the AFP's operational requirements, including telecommunications interceptions, surveillance devices, collection under computer access warrants, collection from open sources, and bespoke in-house developed applications. 
Our Covert Systems and Surveillance Integration teams manage the collection, ingestion and enrichment of surveillance data into end-user systems where it is used for AFP investigations and intelligence analysis. Your role as a System Administrator or DevOps engineer will be to support the underlying infrastructure, systems and data pipelines that operate those core functions.
You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the legislative and regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outline below.

What will you do? As a Band 4/5 Systems Administrator, your responsibilities will include:
Providing systems support for AFP covert surveillance capabilities, which may include support outside of core business hours through an on-call rotation.Configuring and maintaining servers and networks that support AFP operations, utilising infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and automation tools.Manage a hybrid IT environment which includes physical hardware on premises and cloud-based infrastructure.Contribute to complex technical projects and solutions.Build and develop technical knowledge and expertise through ongoing professional development.As a Band /4/5 DevOps Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
Providing system support for AFP covert surveillance capabilities, which may include support outside of core business hours through an on-call rotation.Deploying, configuring and maintaining servers and network that support AFP operations, including through DevOps approaches such as infrastructure-as-code (IaC), continuous integration / continuous delivery (CI/CD) and automation.Manage Kubernetes clusters, their underlying resources and infrastructure.Build and develop technical knowledge and expertise through ongoing professional development. As a Band 6 System Administrator or DevOps Engineer, your responsibilities will include, in addition to the above:
Gaining an understanding of AFP operational areas and developing technical solutions that fulfil their requirements.Leading the implementations of technical projects and systems.Supporting and mentoring junior team members.You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.Proficient & demonstrated experience at designing, deploying and maintaining Windows and Linux systems.Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Experience using collaboration tools that include Git, issue tracking and wikis (e.g GitLab, GitHub, Azure DevOps).While not essential, the following skills and/or experience are desirable for these roles:

No candidate would be expected to have experience in all of thee areas, but experience in any of these areas will be highly regarded.
