What you'll do The SGS-E System Administrator is responsible for administration of a sophisticated IT system in a client environment. The System Administrator is responsible for ensuring that the IT system remains current and secure. The System Administrator will conduct routine and corrective maintenance tasks on Windows and Linux computer systems and will monitor system health. The System Administrator will be required to provide advice to the Site Manager on all aspects of the site IT system. The day-to-day Some key responsibilities of the System Administrator are: Perform daily checks of system health and status Action preventative maintenance tasks generated from the Site Maintenance Plan in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures Investigation and remediation of flagged issues based on internal ticketing system Administration of system update services Engage with vendor support as required for system issues Physical hardware removal/installation and sanitisation of IT equipment Engage with the wider Project team for in progress/upcoming projects and major tasks Scheduling and notification to customer, of any downtime periods related to maintenance tasks Active directory management of new users and subsequent disable on departure Configuration and management of external logistics network including whitelisting of approved users Networking infrastructure support for onsite firewall/switching equipment Vulnerability scans and review of reports generated on a quarterly cadence Handle and monitor site backup solution to ensure coverage remediating any issues noted Deliver training and provide guidance on system assets located at external client representatives Perform routine and scheduled audits of all systems, including backups What you'll need Shown success in an IT role Knowledge of Linux systems administration Knowledge of Windows system administration and active directory management Experience with or knowledge of programming languages and operating systems, current equipment and technologies, enterprise backup and recovery procedures, systems performance-monitoring tools, active directories, virtualization, HTTP traffic, content delivery, and caching Good interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain relationships with partners Solid project management skills and the ability to oversee multiple initiatives at the same time Skilled at analysing situations, identifying problems, determining root causes and proposing effective solutions Continuous improvement attitude Must be an Australian citizen and have an active Australian Government Security Clearance (NV1) or have held one previously What will help you on the job The System Administrator: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in information technology or computer science Professional certification on IT systems, particularly Linux and Windows Server Five or more years of experience in a System Administrator role EEO statement Viasat is proud to be an equal opportunity employer, seeking to create a welcoming and diverse environment.
