The Service Management System Administrator will work in a small, dedicated team to deliver IT system support to internal and external stakeholders. The role will assist the Service Management team to maintain a high standard of professionalism and governance to ITSM principals. The System Administrator will be required to work well in both team and solitary tasks.

Who we are
The Digital Business Division (DBD) draws together retail digital functions from across the department and is responsible for a suite of mission-critical systems and services. The division brings large-scale change to our agricultural export and biosecurity cargo clearance systems through the delivery of the Taking Farmer to Market and Simplified Targeting and Enhanced Processing System programs. The division offers compelling opportunities for transformation, enabling us to innovate and consider how we build and deliver services into the future.

The Digital Clearance Service Branch (DCS) is focused on modernising and sustaining digital export services by future-proofing current and emerging systems. DCS support the movement of agricultural exports by ensuring our export services are highly available, monitored and maintained. We deliver user focused efficiencies through self-service capabilities, enhanced services, driving long term and sustainable benefits. Our services uphold the regulatory requirements across all commodities ensuring continued trade.

The Service Management Team (SM Team) oversees and coordinates service delivery for the DCS Branch, integrating service level management with support processes at the strategic, tactical, and operational levels; with a focus on change and release management, incident management, system monitoring, support of a number of critical departmental systems and governance. The SM Team also supports our export applications acting as the primary interface between our business areas, application vendors, developers, and external stakeholders including the transition of Export applications from project delivery to ongoing, continuous sustainment and maintenance.

The Job
The System Administrator will provide:

Administration, support and maintenance of Export systems and applications, including:

Processing service requests
Monitoring system performance
Troubleshooting issues
Managing system and application change and release management processes
Testing changes to hardware, software and operating systems
Managing and maintaining system access
IT security and compliance oversight
Data maintenance and data integrity oversight
Quality assurance
Systems integration
On-boarding of new systems and applications.

Develop/update system documentation.
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to drive positive customer outcomes.
Engage with both technical and business teams to manage tasks, issues, timelines and outcomes.
Work within a small team, to manage the day-to-day operations of the Department's export applications, including providing On-Call support as required.

Please note that the merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a period of eighteen months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Public Service Gazette, may also be used to fill future ongoing vacancies in the branch where the duties are of a similar nature.

What are we looking for
Knowledge and experience

Experience working in a system administration function (or similar).
Working knowledge, experience and understanding of:

Customer service experience.
Application Lifecycle Management knowledge.
Change control management.
Sound analytical and problem-solving skills in an ICT environment.
Demonstrated experience in, and ability to, work collaboratively with others both within and outside of the Division, including external organisations & vendors, to deliver ICT program outcomes.
Experience creating Work Instructions, Standard Operating Procedures and User Guides.
Ability to operate with minimal supervision.
