What do we need you to do? The Arts Programmes Officer lives and breathes Uniting's Person Centred Care approach, aiming to celebrate our clients as unique individuals. Providing unique physical, psychological, social, and spiritual wellbeing enhanced through meaningful art therapy classes and activities.

Responsibilities include: Planning, developing, and delivering a range of innovative high-quality art therapy programmes and activities that support positive health and wellbeing outcomes in clients. Creating opportunities for meaningful activity, creativity, self-expression, and sensory stimulation. Supporting clients in maintaining past interests and hobbies. Encouraging socialisation, positive group interaction, and building self-esteem, enabling self-exploration and release of inhibitions. Nurturing spirituality, promoting relaxation, reducing agitation and boredom, and encouraging reminiscence. Adapting art therapy activities to accommodate the needs of client groups with different preferences, physical, and cognitive abilities. Ideally, we're looking for someone with a good insight into the health, social, or age care industries with an expert understanding of what creates meaningful engagement for clients.

You will be an integral member of the Leisure and Wellness team across multiple services in Sydney Metro and therefore you will need:

Preferable qualification in a relevant field (e.g., Cert IV in Leisure and Wellness) and/or equivalent experience in a similar role (e.g., Art and Creative Therapies or an Arts background). Experience using client/data management systems and social media. Current First Aid qualification. Current Australian Driver's Licence and a reliable registered vehicle. Understanding of what creates meaningful engagement for clients. Ability to adapt art therapy activities to client groups with different preferences, physical, and cognitive abilities including people with dementia. Ability and willingness to bring new concepts and ideas to the table. Exceptional communication and customer service skills and the ability to get along well with others. Conscientious, reliable, flexible, and a positive outlook. Solid understanding of WHS and risk management practices. Our people are at the heart of everything we do, which is why we support all our Uniting team members to grow and develop to be their best through our strong commitment to learning, flexibility, and great benefits. Together, we can build a better future for the people we serve, for Uniting, and for you.
