The Glennie School, located in Toowoomba, Queensland, is an Anglican day and boarding school for girls from Kindergarten to Year 12 with boarding for students from Year 5.
The School enjoys an excellent reputation for the quality of its programs, care and support offered to students, as well as the commitment, dedication, and professionalism of its staff.The Glennie School is currently seeking a part-time (25 - 30 hours per week) Swimming Coach to prepare Swim Squad Training Plans, coaching and mentoring to Squads and Learn to Swim students, and promote pathways for all swimmers.As the Swimming Coach, you will develop, encourage, and grow participation in the swimming program at Glennie in partnership with all stakeholders.
The Coach will also promote swimming as an enjoyable, healthy sport for people of all ages and abilities in a safe and friendly environment, and foster and encourage good sportsmanship and fellowship amongst all participants.Key Tasks and ResponsibilitiesAssist at any level of The Glennie Aquatic Centre swimming program.Actively engage with the Glennie Gators Swim Club members and families.Build relationships with associations, centres, and coaches which are strategically beneficial to swimming at The Glennie School.Ensure the development and smooth progression of swimmers from junior to development, fitness, and senior squad levels.Actively attract and retain swimmers in the Club and promote pathways for swimmers into higher levels of participation.Identify swimmers within the School and Aquatic Centre members who have the potential to be competitive members of the School and Club teams.Coach, motivate, and instruct participants in swimming by analysing their performances and developing their abilities.Prepare teams for competitions as required and supervise team members participating.Instruct swimmers on correct technique, observe and correct mistakes, provide feedback on performance and provide dry land training sessions as appropriate.Communicate with swimmers and their parents concerning their goals, motivations, strengths, and weaknesses and work with individuals to achieve the best outcome.Conduct safe and enjoyable learn to swim classes for various levels and ages which meet the needs of the individual student whilst maximising learning time for the entire class.About YouDemonstrated ability in implementing training programs that focus on stroke techniques, skills development, and style.Demonstrated ability in building, leading, and managing a successful competitive swimming squad program.Proven ability in building effective relationships and a positive rapport with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills with staff, swimmers, and parents, with the ability to interact with diverse stakeholders.QualificationsDevelopment Coach Accreditation or higher;Blue Card, in accordance with 'No Card, No Start law', as per the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000;Senior First Aid Certificate with CPR;Swim Australia Teacher of Competitive Strokes qualification.Protecting Our ChildrenAll children have a right to be safe and protected from harm and neglect.
