Job Description Summary
The ANZ SVP – Investment and Co-Development will be responsible for originating, structuring, executing, and managing investment and co-development opportunities through strategic partnerships with developers and investors to enable the pull through of GE Vernova ('GE V') equipment and services across its portfolio of technologies including Onshore and Offshore Wind, Gas Power, Hybrids, Hydro, PSP, Solar, BESS, CCUS and Green Hydrogen, while creating incremental value for GE V and its customers.
You will work closely with the GE V Sales Leaders, Regional Leadership team, Global Leadership team and the GE Financial Services team to achieve sales goals for GE V in the region.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
Lead the origination and execution of development partnerships and investments in projects under development across ANZ region, consistent with GE V's strategic plans.
Assess opportunities and ensure compliance with internal approval and assessment processes while managing transaction timetable, budgets and coordinating multidisciplinary transaction teams.
Structure strategic partnership agreements with developers and investors to maximize project value and returns and GE V equipment pull through, while managing and mitigating GE V exposure.
Lead all aspects of the transaction to enter into development partnerships and investments in projects under development from coordination of due diligence to negotiation and execution of all relevant agreements, including but not limited to Joint Development Agreement, Development Loans, Share Purchase Agreements, Development Service Agreement, Shareholders Agreement, Offtake Agreements and Project Finance Agreements.
Ensure coordination of deal execution tasks including, among others, due diligence, underwriting, internal approval processes as well as supporting in the drafting of all required documentation.
Manage internal approval process for transactions in ANZ ensuring alignment with strategy and stakeholders advocacy.
Champion screened deals within the organization by accurately communicating critical elements of deal progress, economics, and risks to leadership team throughout the approval process.
Perform financial pro-forma evaluation of deals. Formulate and implement project development plans and manage development budgets within approved business plan.
Maintain partner relationship and manage ongoing development of projects, balancing exposure, risk, and timescale to ensure proper development spend and progress while maintaining partner relationships.
Supervise, support or lead (as relevant) project-related contract negotiations such as PPAs, BOP contracts, land leases and grid interconnection agreements as well as financing of the projects (in collaboration with other GE divisions as required).
Manage the deals through the deal life cycle including origination, development, notice to proceed, construction, operation and exit.
Serve as advisor and partner to customers, GE V's local sales teams and GE V's local finance teams on all aspects of development across the region.
Create collaborative environment and build strong relationships across GE V.
Qualifications, Requirements & Experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent knowledge or experience;
10+ years of experience in investment and development within the energy or infrastructure sectors in ANZ;
Proven experience in an infrastructure development or private equity environment, including commercial contracts negotiations, deal structuring/execution of complex financial products, strategic alliance negotiation experience and/or capital markets exposure;
Proven experience in evaluating investment opportunities in energy industry, due diligence management, structuring and/or execution of investment/development agreements, strategic alliance negotiations and/or capital markets exposure;
Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook;
Desired Characteristics
MBA or Masters in Finance;
A strong team player with significant examples of proven successful deal origination and success in execution; established network across sector/industry;
Significant energy industry experience within the region with an established network of renewable energy developers;
Understanding of ANZ's renewables and power development landscape including among others, interconnection, planning and environmental, offtake, technical, land acquisition, project finance;
Experience in development and/or investment across technologies including, among others, Onshore Wind, Gas Power, Hybrids, Solar, BESS;
Experience with and understanding of financial modeling of complex energy deals;
Experiencing leading and managing investment and development in projects through a complete deal cycle - development to notice to proceed to commercial operation;
Experience in evaluating commercial strategy of projects;
Experience with PPAs (by offtaker type such as government, commercial and industrial or by offtake type such as generation, capacity etc.) and the full PPA lifecycle from origination through execution;
Good understanding of National Electricity market of Australia;
Experience in raising of project finance for projects;
Proven ability to build/maintain strong relationships (internally and externally) while coordinating multiple tasks/priorities;
Leadership ability to empower and energize others whilst also setting a good example of a strong team player;
A skilled communicator who can influence a wide audience using a balanced approach to problem solving and a clear understanding and presentation of risks;
Ability to solicit interest and champion unique approaches/original solutions and formulate those ideas into a strategy and build concrete executable transactions;
Self-starter with high energy, willingness to cold-call and network and an ability to energize others;
Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% of time.
