Our Opportunity: As our new Buyer, you will develop and buy a range of products and sizes across our apparel category that will enable the department to achieve set sales plans, intake margins, planned markdowns and overall gross profit aligned to the Suzanne Grae customer profile.
Your passion, experience and focus on our customer will play an integral part in this role, where you will be demonstrating your creativity and entrepreneurship to ensure our products are right on trend.
Your can-do and hands on approach in managing your category as well as overseeing and mentoring your Buying Assistant, will set you up for success in this role.
Understanding of fashion trends as they relate to our customer is vital as you build strong relationships and work collaboratively with our suppliers and internally with other departments
Your day-to-day will include: Buying merchandise ensuring you achieve budgeted sales results, meet gross profit targets and identify growth opportunities Ensuring OTB, margins and pricing strategy for department is being achieved Demonstrating an understanding of product construction, fabric/materials and their performance in styling, durability and care Building strong internal and external stakeholder relationships Redesigning and interpreting overseas product and trends in line with the Suzanne Grae customer profile Sourcing and selecting suitable fabrics/materials and demonstrate an understanding of their impact in costing and retail price. Working closely with QA across fittings and quality control Preparing for and attending all range reviews and provide detailed information on product range To be successful in this role, you must have: Fashion/Design/Merchandising diploma or Business/Commerce degree Previous experience as a designer, fashion buyer or product developer, ideally across apparel category Knowledge of and exposure to quality control and fitting of garments Strong organisational skills to manage critical paths, deadlines and lead times Strong negotiation skills and commercial awareness Solid understanding of the local and international trends Previous leadership experience desirable Why work for Suzanne Grae?
