About the role As the GIS Administrator, you will be the key system administrator for STT's Geographic Information System. You will collaborate with GIS colleagues and stakeholders to implement technology strategies and provide a range of spatial data products and services that support the effective management of STT's forest estate.
Your responsibilities will include: Provide technical administration, maintenance, and development support for STT's spatial datasets (vector, raster, and non-spatial). Assist with the configuration of GIS software and hardware. Manage core spatial datasets, data storage systems, data replication processes, editing/validation methods, and systems for creating maps, reports, and visual displays. Document standard operating procedures for GIS usage. Provide technical GIS expertise, advice, and mentoring to staff. Continuously assess and recommend improvements to STT's GIS. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on GIS and data-related matters. Provide supervision and leadership for work units and projects as required. Qualifications (desirably tertiary) in Spatial Sciences, Surveying and Mapping, Geographic Information Systems, Geomatics, or equivalent. Proven experience in GIS administration and maintenance of spatial datasets. Experience in cartography and graphic design. Proficiency in Python programming. Demonstrated knowledge of systems such as Oracle Database, FME, GeoServer, MapInfo, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, and Microsoft Suite. Experience with ETL processes and data integration tools (e.g., FME) is highly desirable. Knowledge of remote sensing and GPS systems. Understanding of relevant legislation and organisational security/privacy requirements.
